April 2007 Archives
Ok, so I know you were thinking, "is she for real with that Prince poster thing." Above is proof that my love for Prince may be a tad bit overzealous. I am not currently up to fan club creator but apparently I am up there. I like the guy in purplem what can I say...
What I am listening to: The Sounds, Amy Winehouse, Madvillian, a little bit of everything like always
What I can't wait for: Coachella, baby! Counting down the days.
What I am watching: Scrubs is on constantly on Comedy Central and I love it!
What I am reading: Puff- Bob Flaherty- a really funny novel about two irresponsible brothers in the 70s who go out in a huge blizzard just to score some weed- funnier than it sounds, really.

I have been tagged by the Moe Moe and so now it seems that I must list ten weird things about myself, which in all honestly shouldn't be hard. But for some reason- I am having such a hard time. And that in it itself is weird- I wonder if I can pass that off as one of the ten. Ah well, here we go...
~Ten Weird Things About Me~
1. I love soggy cereal- crunchy is not for me.
2. It takes me a good 30 minutes to get up and turn off my alarm in the morning- yep I am that annoying person that lets it go on forever. But in my defense, my alarm clock plays my iPod and its better than beeping for half an hour. Something tells me that this practice is going to change when my sister moves back in this summer.
3. I consider myself gay but am more attracted to male musicians/actors than any famous females. What does that mean?
4. I set up little periods of time for myself and usually my sister called "dancing time"- where we do silly dances that crack us up- yeah, it a regular activity around here.
5. I love Prince! I mean, the kind of love where you get a poster on Ebay and then realize its huge and it won't fit anywhere in the house and not look ridiculous (cause the poster is of him with no shirt blowing pretend steam off a gold microphone that is shaped like a gun)- so you decided to post on the ceiling above your bed- and all of this seems normal to you.
6. I really want a shark head and a medical diorama of a body part (preferably a uterus) that I can spray paint white and use as decor in my house.
7. I have very vivid dreams of being torn to shreds by great white sharks.
8. I love to clean!- Give me a chore and as long as I have music, I'll have a good time.
9. I daydream constantly and so when in a potentially dangerous situation(scary dark back alley), I check my surroundings looking for potential weapons to beat off a supposed attacker and then daydream about the certain ways I will escape.
10. I am very grossed out by slimy things like snails, slugs, and worms. Even though I am twenty-six, I will literally scream if I accidentally touch one or get too close to it.
Ok, now having done this I realize that ten weird things is not that hard for me. I could probably do 100- but I won't. You would be bored to tears and then if tears actually sprang to your eyes you could write that on your own list of weird things- "Jackie's endless list of weird things actually made me cry out of boredom."
Some plates I painted for over the kitchen table
So I've been away for awhile, again. And I am certain that it will happen again and again. It's just the way the artist in me works. I have extremely high energy creating time periods and I have lulls where I focus on work that pays the bills and fun things like taxes. So I am looking to get out of this lull. So just what have I been up to... let's not fight it, I got your list right here:
- working on decorating the house (these little side projects sometimes consume me for some reason)
- working on the mural in the garage
- it was my birthday! (and I am now 26 and not feeling any different than 22)
- obsessing over a mustache- have I told you all that I want a mustache (removable of course) that I can wear with a ten gallon cowboy hat and then take polaroids and make them into postcards- (weird, I know, but I love it)
- going to fun places like Rockin' Baja in Newport Beach, Taleo in Irvine,
- seeing the Soweto Gospel Choir- simply amazing
- going to two classes for my day job
And because it was my birthday- I received some iTunes cards, yay! Thanks Kin and Va! Now comes the hard part of choosing what to get. In the meantime, I bought Modest Mouse, The Sounds, some The The, The Who and the remake of Love Reign O'er Me by Pearl Jam... Some good stuff. And I am waiting for the new Tegan & Sara album and The White Stripes album both out in June.
