I didn't do anything really productive this weekend. It was more of a relax and have fun weekend- which is good. But sometimes I feel guilty when I don't get anything done- like the "productivity monitor" is going to find me and slap me on the hands. I am going to try to keep these feelings at bay in 2007- just one of the many things I want to work on.
In spite of my lack of productivity, I do have lots of ideas for new purses and clutches that I will be posting soon on the Myspace. And I also set up an etsy shop, where I will also post my newest creations. I'll let you know when everything is up for sale. And then maybe one of these days I can update my website and learn how to sell things on Ebay. One thing at a time though.
This a collabo piece between Melinda and I that was for sale at Bazaar Bizarre. Its neckalce just in case you can't really tell- well, a pendant to be exact.
Sadly, it was not sold at BB, which is funny because I thought that the collaboration pieces that we did were really cool. Its hard to gauge what people buy too, because I saw purses sell that I thought were so so and then ones that I thought were awesome were passed over. So I am not sure what I should do about that. I think I will just do what makes me happy in the hopes that it will make others happy too. Wow, thats not even what I was going to write about today. Oh well. Tangents are part of everyday life in the brain of an ADD painter.
But I digress, the reason that I posted this picture was because I need new chairs for the front room of my place. Now there may not be a tangible correlation as of yet- but I'll explain. I was thinking that if I could find some vinyl chairs (ones that look like leather but sadly are not) I could tag all over them and if the price is right then they would be functioning art chairs. Now see the correlation? I think it would look really cool. Very alternative library seeing that I just bought a cool bookcase from Target. Then I can get my countless books out of the corners of my room and into a proper place. A Jackie-fied place but a place none the less. We'll see what transpires...

Here are some canvases that I did for my kitchen. And yes, they are of the animals matched up to their meat products. And, yes it appears that I have a sick sense of humor. But first let me tell you how I came up with this idea. You see my brother Micah, gave me a tray with plastic meat as one of my Christmas presents (not really sure why, it must be because he thought it was funny- I think its funny too) and I didn't know what to do with the meat- so now you know.
And so goes the trend of my artwork lately. I have been very interested in social statements as housewares and home decor. I have been redecorating the house in these terms. For some reason, when people come to my house, I want them to question (like what the hell is this and why is it here) and to take everything lightly. It all comes from my interests of thrifting, painting and revamping crap that I find (all with a little sarcastic humor- it wouldn't be me if there wasn't some sarcasm thrown in there).
~Here's a little list of things that I am working on right now~
1. I am doing paint by #s paintings for the hallway (I thought it would be funny- cause here I am a self-proposed painter do a paint by number) and then framing them in tacky gold frames and graffiting lyrics and sayings on top of them. I might decide to even leave a marker out so that people can write messages.
2. I really want a cowhide rug for the lil' library that I am creating in the house. Is it weird that I want one and I don't eat meat?
3. I cast three plaster of paris skulls that now sit near the kitchen sink. I have named them all, Klaus, Guerillmo, and Choco. Klaus has two painted gold teeth. (I keep trying to get a good picture of them but it needs to be done in daylight otherwise they look like ghostly white blobs.)
4. I still need to finish tiling the ring of fire- but damn its been cold!
5. But I did paint the bathroom a spice color- now when I take a shower I feel like I am inside a pumpkin. I have decided that that is a good thing.

Christopher Humes' plant gun - I seem to be very interested in "political" things lately. I am making a bowl out of melted army men- hopefully it turns out cool.
Ok, so I have been away for awhile, and everyone seems to be cool with it, albeit for my mom who keeps calling me and asking me what I am doing and when I reply with nothing much, she yells that I should blog. For the most part, its been nice to be on a mini-vacation from the internet. I've found that life does not stop just because you can't check your e-mail more than once or twice a day. The world goes on.... haha
I hope everyone had a good holiday or holidays. I did. It was nice to be able to recoup after Bazaar Bizarre and work and visitors. Sometimes you just need time to be. And thats what I have been doing- kicking it, working, cleaning my house and re-decorating (I'll post some pictures soon).
I was even thinking that I wouldn't really post anymore. But I kind of missed it-its therapuetic even if a handful of people read it- or even if no one really does- except for my impatient mother that is. So I will hit you back with some posts later this week.
