Honey, It Dont Make No Difference To Me, Baby, Everybodys Has To Fight To Be Free...
The vinyl station in my room
On Wednesday night, I went to see Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers in Chula Vista. Beck opened which was a pleasant surprise, and the dude had puppets. Apparently, (although I have never been a real big Beck fan, I am now a Beck convert) Beck always has interesting live shows where he and his band eat breakfast at a table and then play the plates and cups like drums. Well Wednesday was no exception cause like I said, the dude had puppets of everyone in the band and they would cut from video of him singing to his puppet killing it with the puppet band- funniest thing ever. At the intermission, the puppets broke into Tom Petty's dressing room and trashed it. Why are drunk and peeing puppets funny to me?
But I digress, Tom Petty came on a little while later and kicked ass! He played all the songs I knew and loved- including some I didn't know so well. The highlight however was when he was introducing his band and then he introduced an honory "Heartbreaker", Stevie Nicks. And out came Stevie from backstage twirling in all of her crazy glory with a huge tambourine that had multiple scarves attached. One of the best concerts I have been to in awhile...
And here are some of my favorite Tom Petty songs (not in order):
- Refugee
- Free Fallin'
- Last Dance With Mary Jane
- Don't Come Around Here No More
- Learning to Fly
- Two Gunslingers
- Into The Great Wide Open
- Yer So Bad
- Alright For Now
