I ran today. No I didn't just jog. I ran hard and fast like I was running for my life. And I seem to have sweated it out. The anxiety that is. The nagging feeling that has been plagueing me this month. Its going to sound silly. Its going to sound trite and self indulgent. But I keep dreaming that I am never going to be anything when I grow up. And when is that exactly? When is this magical moment where I realize that I am a grown up? Does it start and end with a hair cut- maybe and then maybe not. This run has helped me though- silly as it sounds. It put the little stuff into perspective- a little or in my case a lot of sweat will do that to you. I am an artist. I pay my bills. I live in a kickass house with half a ring of fire. I have a family, friends and a dog. In fact, what was my problem again?

The one purse I finished while I was watching tv this weekend.

When did I get so addicted to tv? I went from not knowing anything about the filler shows that they put on in the Summer- to straight up addiction. I am currently addicted to: Project Runway, Intervention, Miami Ink, Shark Week (now on this week), reruns of everything. I have a problem. Its got to stop sometime right? So I vow no more superfluous tv. Three hours a week. Yeah, its strict. And thats it. But its just so damn distracting. I can't even paint with it on.

But did you know that I have a channel called Fit Tv- yeah it has fitness shows on every half an hour or so. So now there is no excuse not to exercise. Does that count as part of my three hours a week? Nah, I don't think so either.

What I finished: Lauren's Vans as you can see above. It was all about tattoo looking roses and guns. The backs say Death and Glory.

What I am listening to: The Gossip, Gnarls Barkley, Kim Carnes, Peggy Lee

What I am watching- My So-Called Life- I wish they would do another show this raw. And it makes me nostalgic for the 90s. Weird I know.

What I am looking at: Lose Your Illusion Vol 1 on Ebay- on vinyl- dammit I want it!

What I am planning: to get some Vans for me- enough for other people- although I don't mind painting them for other people- its quick and fun to see the finished product. Maybe going thrifting too. Actually there are just so many possibilities for Friday. No work. No real plans. What to do?

Sometimes your silence can say more than words. For some reason I haven't felt like writting anything. Its not that there hasn't been going on- or maybe its just that too many things have been going on. I just needed a little break. I wish I could go on vacation for a little while. Away from this stifling heat. Away from dumb problems. I have Fridays off now that my bosses are on vacation- maybe I will take myself somewhere close but faraway. The art store sounds promising- I could get lost there for hours. Hmm I'll let you know where I end up.

Ahh Hawaii

What I am addicted to: Project Runway- While I was sick there was a PR marathon on Bravo. I am so addicted now. It may be a problem because I find it hard to wait for the upcoming week's show.

What I am listening to: My On The Go Mix- a smattering of The Pretenders, The Police, The Roots, The Coral, Madvillian, Prince, Spoon and more (it seems that I am very much into bands that start with The)

What I am reading: Possible Side Effects- Augusten Burroughs; magazines- Domino and YRB

What show I am going to see this week: I guess I should say shows- Gnarls Barkley and this weekend it will be The Bangles (who doesn't love them?)

What I am eating: my favorite salad from Trader Joe's- spinach, cranberries, pecans and blue cheese

What I am drawing: some new designs for some shoes for my sister. I am using her as my personal promotion team- so basically, I send her to work in my shoes and our shirts and people seem to really like them. I think I will send her with some clutches and see how those go as well. Very promising...

Why I am happy: Because last night my sister and I cleaned the house within an inch of its life (does that even make sense?) and now I can go home without being greeted by my dog and the ever trailing dust bunnies- which is nice.

What I want to do: take more pictures of cool places- because it looks like I am running out.

What I am feeling: Shark Week is soon. The new concert that Jack FM just announced- Cheap Trick, Journey, Billy Idol, De Leppard and The Violent Femmes- see whats not to like?,

What I am grateful for: the air conditioner- No joke!

Near Hana, Hawaii

Man there is nothing like having a raging cold while it 10 million degrees outside. Alright, so I am exaggerating a little. But damn its been hot! Friday I found out that Melinda and I didn't get into Bazaar Bizarre. And I was sad at first. As an artist, rejection sucks. But I got over it pretty quickly because I have a plan of action, folks. Thats right! You will see the vintage clutches that I have painted on my website as well as some other painted goodies. I am thinking of adding Vans and Converse painted shoes on there too. Should I make it so they are individual pieces of art or should i make them available in all sizes and just have them take about a week to ship? What do you guys think?

Be on the lookout for new things to come.

As I got ready for work this morning- I realized that I was getting ready as a grown person would. I got up when my alarm went off, made my bed (somewhat), laid out my clothes, took a shower and styled my hair. Styled my hair? Yeah, I am as surprised as some of you are too. When I was done messing with my hair- I just stared in the mirror wondering when I became an adult.

Funny that it takes a simple hair cut to remind me that I am really 25. I am not the college student anymore who can get away with a sweatshirt and jeans every day. Nope, its time to grow up a little- even if it is only on the outside.

rocks and water

What I did: I cut my hair! I have an actual hair cut- one that now I have to do in the morning. No more slicked back buns cause i have choppy layers and side bangs. But it was definitely time for a change. I mean I am 25 now- I should actually get ready in the morning like an adult as opposed to a sloppy college student.

What I saw: Two movies- Pirates of the Caribbean and Wassup Rockers. Be prepared for a tangent- Why is Johnny Depp so good at running around all drunken crazy like as Captain Jack Sparrow. I love how quirky he is. Wassup Rockers was pretty interesting too- from the same guy who did Kids (so disturbing). One of the kids in the movie punctuates his stories with "and then" and I realized that "and then" and "basically" are the latino version of "like." I have noticed that I use "you know" together with a variation of all of them- which makes me think that I should really speak more cohesively. Ah well...

What I listened to: I've been listening to some Pretty Girls Make Graves- but its about that time to find some new music, again. You know when you are sick of everything you have and you swear that you can't listen to anything you have one more time.

What I planned: So many projects going on. I am teaching myself how to silkscreen and painting more shoes (converse and Vans), purses, and belts. So yeah painting anything that will stand still.

Who I saw: Kin!, my Uncle Ron and his girlfriend, Patty, some of my cousins and Jarrett- my hair stylist whom I love, my brother among others

So here is another meme that has been going around. This one is my favorite. So here we go:

The idea behind the blog is that it's about music, and that you can put up to three answers to any question. But no more. One answer is OK, two answers is OK, three answers is OK. Four is not OK, and five is right out. Unless otherwise indicated, you can only choose songs, and be specific--putting "anything by Madonna" doesn't count.
