Mia (Em's dog) and the aftermath of the pinata

If you ever want to have a really good time, I suggest hitting a pinata not with a traditional bat or stick. Nah, you have to do it with your bare hands or feet. We did it while a tall cousin was holding it (see we didn't have anywhere to hang it) and then we each took turns doing a move to hit it. Someone did the robot chop, the kill bill move, a crazy karate chop, an old street fighter move complete with the noises they used to make on the arcade game, and someone and I won't say who- tried to get a little fancy and tripped on the pinata. All in all- good times.

April's shoes

These are the shoes I painted for my cousin April for Christmas. She liked them, which is a good thing cause otherwise I would have tried to stuff my big feet in that little size 7 shoe. Maybe I should just paint some for myself. Yeah that would be easier.

I hope everyone had a good holiday and has a good New Year. I am looking forward to more time off. Then soon I will be on vacation in sunny Chicago- I mean freezing Chicago. What was I thinking? Should be fun though.

P.S. Moe Moe is a genius, she put links on my blog- Check 'Em...

I am finishing up painting the last presents and damn they look kickass. I don't want to spoil the surprise for people, so I can't post the pictures just yet. But if I like it- then I think they will like it. Cause Lord knows that I am picky as hell.

Our Little Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

Its no joke that I love Christmas. I love giving presents. I love giving period. There is no better feeling than that. My family has always been into the giving part of the season- it has never been about the getting- although that is nice.

I was remembering the other day the ways my dad gave throughout the season. One year due to the rain, the construction workers weren't having much luck finding work. My dad took a job at Toys R Us and worked nights so that he could give us a good Christmas. Some of his friends didn't have an extra job or if they did, needed the money for more practical things. So he talked to them about what they wished they could get their kids, he listened and wrote them down without them knowing. Then one night, he took me to Toys R Us and Target and we got presents for their kids- exactly what they wanted. The next day he put the toys in their trucks during a job. They were surprised and some even cried (don't let construction guys fool you- they are some sentimental guys) and some suspected my dad- but he wouldn't say that he did it. He told me that their reaction was enough. And if one kid's Christmas was happy, then going broke for a little while was worth it. Because thats the type of man my dad was. And that my friends, is the purpose of this season.

taken from the 55 freeway

I have seriously baggy pants now, which is very comfortable. I must admit that the #1 reason to lose weight is not to be healthy or to feel good about yourself. Nah, the #1 reason is so that when you change your pants, you can just pull them down without the burden of unbuttoning and unzipping. Too much information? Ehh, what are you going to do?

picture that I took while driving

Yes, its true I am an unsafe driver. Sometimes as I am driving, I notice how beautiful the sky is and true to my fashion, there is no time to stop and take a photo. So, I simply stick my arm out and try to stall a little to get a quick picture. This would be fast and painless as I have a good camera but it there is a delay from the time I press the button to take the picture and when the camera actually takes it. Nine times out of ten, I delete these attempted on the sly photos. But I liked this one- so there you go.

My kickass cousin Anthony-Ray sent me this article about gay marriage. It's chock full of sarcasm on why gay people should not be allowed to get married. I love it. Because lets be honest- there is no real reason that gay couples should not be allowed to get married. I have copied the twelve reasons below- just in case you were being lazy and you didn't want to check out the link.

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.

10. Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.

I got tons of work done this weekend. Four scarves, 2 jewelry boxes, scored a present for my brother, bought all of the rest of the Christmas gifts (now things just need to be assembled and wrapped), Andy and I put up Christmas lights and I bought a miniture living Christmas tree and I decorated mini Christmas bulbs for it. There was other stuff too- but how many times can I say that I cleaned my room. Oh and my brother made me watch Gothika- and I have a question- Why was Roc so sick (you know, Charles Dutton)? Why Roc, why?

I told myself- don't write about it on your blog. But here I am, just too happy not to write about it. I have lost 13 lbs in 5 weeks on Weight Watchers. Although my goal is far off- it feels good to be doing something about it. Cause the reality is you can wish and wish for things to happen- but if you don't help yourself a little- nothing will happen. And that little something something is better than nothing.

Sage advice for today: If you have been wishing and hoping for something. Do a little something towards that goal- you will be surprised at how much the little things count. It may even give you the courage or motivation to keep going further.
