Things I am feeling:
- Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.
- Miami Ink on TLC- if only I could have more tattoos- might be awkward in a law office environment though.
- new cds (well new to me)- Molotov, Deepspace 5 and Orishas.
- freshly caught ahi tuna (thanks to my mom's cousin Chuck)
- moving back into my house pretty soon (Is it weird that I actually look forward to re-organizing the kitchen and doing some Summer cleaning?)
- Rainbow flip flops
- my mom's futon upstairs (its so comfortable that I have slept through my alarm for at least 2 1/2 weeks).

I am a worrier by nature or is it nuture? Regardless, I worry constantly. I may look like I am calm- this is because my rational side knows that everything will be ok because it usually is. My irrational "what-if" side likes to torture me. So I tell myself "Don't worry" and then it becomes a song "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright.." So then I get distracted by Bob Marley and my little worry is gone for the moment.
I was just thinking tonight that sometimes in order for life to run its course you have to distract yourself from the little what-if details and remember that there is a bigger picture. Something that also helps me is asking myself if this problem is going to be a big deal in a couple of weeks or even a couple of months. If it isn't then it really isn't worth worrying about it. Besides, "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is going to be alright..."
See now I have Bob Marley on the brain.

What I am listening to: Zap Mama- Bandy Bandy and the Sublime tribute cd (its too bad this band was cut short)
What I am watching- Queer as Folk Season 4 (Netflix is awesome)
What I am reading- The Virgin Suicides (I have read many great books this Summer- including: What We Do Is Secret and Angry Black White Boy- I suggest you read Angry Black White Boy- I would love to be able to write a satire such as this. I may try one of these days- my sarcasm has to be good for something.)
Where I am: my mom's house until the kitchen is done at my house.
What I am eating- ice (there is nothing better than crunching ice (too bad it messes up your teeth- I should really stop)

Sunset going down the 5
Santa Ana was bedlam on the 4th. As soon as we hit the city limit we noticed a definite smoky haze. At first we thought it was fog but then we realized that is was from the fireworks that people were setting off. I kinda felt bad for the cops that night. We saw at least ten cars all go different directions- there was hardly any back up that night. Fireworks are legal in Santa Ana but the ones that were in the sky were definitely not legal and we loved it. Big bursts of color and booms filled the sky. Note to self: never go down Spurgeon Street off of Seventeenth- people throw fireworks out their apartment windows down to the cars below- we got out of there fast. The sky was a blaze til 10:30 and then it seemed that the haze enveloped the city and it went to sleep.
