So I have decided to open up another blog for my artwork and updates of that nature- you can check it here www.vozchica.tumblr.com. And I was thinking maybe I would just let this blog go, but I think what I'll do is keep this one for personal things and the other for business. Either way, I'd like to keep writing. I've missed it in a way and I've realized that I have been keeping most things really close to the chest lately, and not just on the internet, with my personal life too. It feels nice to hear things out in the open and I think its therapeutic too. My life tends to become one blur where there is very little difference between home life and work life. So at least my blogs will be differentiated.
Wow, it has been so long since I have blogged that I am not really sure where to begin. I guess I'll just dive in- let's not start with where I have been, but then again how can I not. Just to jog the process, I think I will just type whatever comes into my head, so know that this random list is just that, random. :) Bear with me, I promise the next post will be much more interesting.
- I've been painting and painting and my stuff has been doing pretty well
- People in Germany get me, there and Turkey and Portugal- these are the three places where I sell the majority of my purses, well outside of the US that is.
- I have been just so busy with life and all that its mundaneness offers as I am extremely good at going through the rigamarole with little fun in between.
- Sometimes I wonder if I would rather work than have what other people think is fun.
- I have an Australian Cattle Dog puppy (6 months) named Ringo, who keeps me very busy. I have never had such an active dog. I think that by the time he is two, I will quite possibly be a marathon runner, which is nuts because I hate running. But thanks to my trusty shuffle, it's becoming more fun and like a release that I desperately need.
- My sister now works in the office with me and while this is a good thing, it's sometimes hard because the lines between a personal life and work life are virtually nonexistent as we live together too. It's a good thing that we generally like each other 95% of the time!
- I have been reading when I get a chance and I now remember why I don't read all the time. I get easily consumed by books and because I read super fast, I can finish a 600 page book in a night if I am not careful. So I have to be careful to read with discipline- I make myself stop at a decent hour. Self- regulation is a must.
- My sister and I are going to take a small vacation in October. We are going to the Boston and Salem area to see ghosts (seriously haha) and then to Chicago for Halloween. I haven't been on a vacation forever, it will be really nice.
- I participated in a craft show thrown by Tall Mouse called Handmade Brigade. It was a lot of fun and everyone was so nice. I am used to younger people liking my purses and such but what surprised me were the reactions of all the older people. I didn't expect to get such nice compliments- :).
- My business is actually booming right now and it seems that people are getting to know me around Etsy and the craft circle- I dig that!
- I have decided to stop waiting until I become a full fledged artist to become cooler. I always thought that in order to be true to my artistic self that I had to pay my dues with my serious day job, and I do. But somewhere along the way I forgot my true passion- sort of that is, and I have felt my creativity get stripped away with adulthood. I am trying to reverse that now. I think a new arm tattoo will help. I mean, I know I have said this so many times, but seriously this summer I am getting an arm tattoo. Damn the Man!
You can now catch me on so many websites that it is ridiculous. Mostly, I love flickr, Etsy and Twitter. Add me and check out my new stuff.
Until next time, and yes that will sooner than last time. I'm going to try to write several times a week. We'll see how that goes...
So apparently I have taken a long sabatical. I have been really busy since I last wrote. Busy with my mom being really sick and in the hospital, having to put my dog down, going on a five day road trip across country and yes, the ever present Holiday present making. Since most of these things have passed, I don't really want to re-hash what happened, especially not with putting my dog, Jazz down. It was and is just too painful. It was very unexpected and so so hard although I know that it has and will get better with time. Its just definitely weird to have such a personable animal that you take care of every day and then to one day no longer have that.
On to more fun things- my roadtrip was awesome. Ten states in five days people. Let's list them: Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Tennesee, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. It was madness and let me tell you, Texas took up most of the time! I knew Texas was big and yet I was still surprised when I would look at the signs and see, yes, we are still in Texas. The most exciting was being in Memphis, Tennesee and seeing Graceland. It was hilarious, although there were some die hard fans there who didn't quite think it was as cheesily awesome as we did. To them it was serious Elvis business. I am sure I will have lots of stories in the coming posts.. Maybe I'll let them trickle out over a short span of time, just for everybody's amusement. I might even call it, Jackie's lessons from the road...
