I just saw most of the movie Closer for the first time. I'm trying to digest it right now. I've always liked Natalie Portman as an actress and I think she shines in this one too. I just dislike Jude Law more and more. He plays the same person/character in all the movies I've seen him.
Julia Roberts - hmmm, I don't know what the big fuss about her is. She's alright. Just alright, nothing to shout about.
Clive Owen - I liked how he was angry in this movie. He played that well. I can see him playing alot of different roles.
The song Blower's Daughter by Damien Rice, really suited the tone of the film, which I think is all about LOVE - trying to find it, fighting it, losing it, giving it up, and trying to find it all over again. LYRICS Here.
Closer... Now, you know about Men's weakness and their mental orientation, hidden agendas, competitiveness, and jealousy etc more than before????
well...men's weakness .... u mean the cheating ? - the girl (s?) in the movie cheated too.
so I'm still not sure what the motivation for that is, only that very often, ppl cheat because they are insecure, or afraid of letting go or losing.
the hidden agendas are interesting in this movie, esp they don't mention why Jane was disguised as Alice the entire time in the movie, you know. V. interesting.
I need to watch this movie again, i only saw like 2/3s of it.
Not about cheating sis, about our handlings of relationships... I suppose we are weak psychologically at times... compared to women. We react stupidly.. more than most women do. We torture ourselves. In this movie, the girls are much more mature, decisive and mentally stable even though the men got the upper hand.. especially Jude Law's character.. but he lost miserably because of his weakness (which is Men's weakness).. Men are not very forgiving... and as a consequence we suffer. Men are not as tough as we look we are... we are still very vulnerable.
Hehe.. I forgot the plot already; I may need to watch it again to talk about it...
Intersting comment, bro. I think it was very big of Alice/Jane to love the Jude law character so much that she doesn't even mention that she knew he wants to cheat.
yeah, i know men are not as tough as you guys look :p but most guys don't know that a lot of women find arrogance a turn off.
I mean, I was watching the movie The Departed this past weekend (u seen it? it's good). and the vulnerability and honesty is so much more refreshing than lies and a tough front.

Just watched the Departed. Apart from big names such as J. Nicolson, L. DeCaprio, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin and Marky Mark (Wahlberg), the movie has not much goodies and is not worth to put in your DVD collection. Just a twisted undercover cop movie... Nothing to think about after the movie but good to watch if u like any actors in, or cop-movies..
I have collected Closer.. :D
