United States of America

As I was checking out Alex's blog today, I thought, what a coincidence, I have been in the United States of America for almost 5 years too. I found that some of the things she wrote in this blog posting to be rather true. Especially about the freedom part. That's the one thing that I want to talk about: Yes, there is racism in America and most Americans are ignorant of other cultures and exclusionary of who can become citizens even though they are supposed to be fair about it.

However, I will say this: USA is a hell lot of better than living in SIngapore for me. and It is better in some ways when compared to living in Burma. And that there are minorities trying to speak out... in some countries.. there's so much fear no one even speak out..

I guess you have to adjust to the differences in every country because there is no perfect place in this world (and perfect means different thigns to everybody)

But i was nodding my head in agreement about being confused about how to pronounce words.. or people laughing at you for calling certain objects certain things..it happens to me all the time and I get embarrassed because I feel as though it's my fault and that I should know the AMerican way.... lol
now I just go, Shut up! that's how I was taught, you meanie.

Please don't take me as an American hater. I love America, I want to be an American and I want to make other Americans more aware of other things besides themselves and of how to have an open mind. I am also aware of the political and social situations that surround me, especially as a minority.

Oh and the other thing that bugged me: America was not founded on religion. No. It was founded on the premise that it should be free from any religious persecution, so stop making rules that are based on religious beliefs!Because the beauty of America or the beacuty of its ideology is that there should be freedom for ALL. not just certain people.

Peace!
