Mr. Plains Clothes Police Man

Swan-ar Shin --- Could you tell me how you feel,
going through the crowds that bleed
nothing but sentiments that your own mother would agree?

Mr. Plains clothes policeman, they ordered you to create order
arrest those that defy the rulers;
the very rulers who hold your head down,
under water for very very long
the same ones who eat out of your rice bowl,
the same ones who would turn on you if you were bold.

I've been watching the news,
reading the papers,
studying the photographs
and while I worry about the future of the protesters
who dared to speak their mind (they dared!),
and their mothers whose hearts must be wrought with
uneasiness and helplessness,
I sometimes wonder about you, the plains clothes policeman.

who are you?
how well do they feed you?
what are their brainwashing techniques?
what is it like to arrest people who ask for rights
that should have been theirs in the first place?
what is it like to torture someone?

what goes through your head?
do you wonder if you might go to hell?
do you wonder if you already might be in hell?

Mr. plains clothes police man,
is your heart on their side?
or is this just survival for you?

Do your neighbours stare at you in fear?
Do they even look you in the eye?
Or maybe they bring you gifts so they would be dear
to your seemingly cold cold heart........

I wonder...... I wonder......
I worry...... I worry.......

Buddhists say that Everything is as it should be, every moment is as it should be and that every moment is perfect in its own way.

Is that your excuse for not getting angry?
Is that your reasoning for not fighting for your rights?
Is that an excuse?
Is that the way of life?

Is everything as it should be?

In this photo released by Democratic Voice of Burma, a Myanmar man is carried on to a waiting truck after being arrested by plain cloths police officers during a protest in Yangon, Myanmar Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007. Pro-government militia members on trucks staked out key streets in Yangon Wednesday as the Myanmar's military rulers sought to crush a rare wave of dissent against fuel price hikes by pro-democracy activists.

"I want to implore the people to join hands with us in our movement who have sacrificed our lives and freedom for the good of the people and the country," said Su Su Nway, who is active in labor issues.
