I discovered Steven's Blog through reading Kalvin's blog and I was looking at the photos that Steven took of the flooding in Mandalay, Burma, that happened last week. I hope that the flood has all gone and that the people who suffered are getting help. You can look at his photos here.
I really liked the picture of the kids having fun in the flood. LOL. It's kind of like, these kids finding reasons to be happy when there's this awful thing called flood going on and disrupting their lives.
I've blogged about it before, and this reminds me of when I used to live in Ahlone, Yangon - every year, there would be a flood like this around our house. And every year, we would be rather happy about it, and set paper boats a-sail and also the bigger boys in the neighborhood would go around on makeshift "boats" made out of logs. All of us not caring that the water was extremely dirty or that the whole flooding thing was extremely inconvenient for the adults.
It's kind of like, "ay, what are you going to do, might as well swim since we are already wet" kind of attitude.
